What Happens In A Hearing Test?

Sometimes you will see the word ‘hearing screen’, ‘hearing test’ or ‘hearing consultation’ and it can be a little confusing as to the difference between these terms. You can work out which is which by the time it takes to complete the test/screen/consultation.

A hearing screen is a FREE 15-to-20-minute check which allows clinicians to gauge any underlying hearing problems. Some hearing clinics call their hearing screens a ‘test’.

If any hearing problems are detected, then it is recommended that you have a longer hearing test (also referred to by some as a hearing consultation) which lasts around 60 mins. This is conducted in a booth and at the end of the session your Audiometrist/Audiologist will discuss your results with you. They will then advise you on your individual hearing needs.

It is important to remember that your hearing needs are different from your family, your friends – everyone! This means finding the hearing aid which suits you, your lifestyle, and your budget.
